Music fanatic I am, and one thing that seems to be such an
unusual thing “now” in music, is when the decision is made to use a real live
band. Once, that was never a question,
because that is what you “had” to do.
Over time of course, we humans invented other ways of catching that
sound without having to have a “real live band” experience. Now entertainers mention that like it’s a
novelty of sorts, “Yeah, we used a live band because I wanted that authentic
sound”. Like really people, it’s gotten
to this point and can you tell it trips me out?
Well of a live band the star to me is the drummer and if you
study your craft well then you’ve got a fan in me. One of those people whom I’m highlighting
today is Steve Copeland of, The Police.
This man is magic behind a drum kit, in which he evokes that fire within
your belly, the heartbeat of the rhythm that you feel when a drummer is playing
with shear emotion. There are times
within a drum solo he is murdering the kit to death! Not only do you see it happening, you feel it
in your soul.
Synchronicity 2 is my all-time favorite performances of his!
